This here will be a random post of sorts as I will talk about my last few days of school and what I have done since the kids left on June 7. I titled it Non Busy Married Pearl because it is amazing what you can get done when you are not running from place to place and being pulled in fifty five thousand different directions. Don't get me wrong, I choose to do all that I do, but this summer I purposefully decided to take a break. Last summer I worked almost everyday and I didn't feel like I had a break or time to breathe. This summer I'm working two days a week at the studio.
I'm looking forward to going to the beach and getting my life and classroom organized.
Below are a few pictures and thoughts I've had since June 7. One of the biggest revelations I've had so far is that when I have nothing I to do, I clean. Within my first week off I had cleaned the kitchen and both bathrooms. Saturday my husband and I spent the whole day doing yard work. I raked after he cut the grass, cleaned out the trash cans with the power washer, and sprayed down the driveway. The yard, driveway and trash cans look beautiful, but my hands, not so much. I'm used to blisters on my feet from dancing, but not blisters on my hands.

This right here made me cry. (One of the many times I cried the last day of school). For those of you reading this who have known me since childhood know that I'm a crier. For those of you who have met me within the last 5 years or so know I now usually only cry when I'm mad and/or frustrated. Anyway, the parents of this student came in on the last day of school with gifts, balloons, and this sweet card. Relationships- one of the many reasons why I teach. I will miss my babies this year. This year was the first time in 8 years I've cried on the last day of school. All of my classes hold a special space in my heart, but this one will hold an extra special place.
Other than cleaning, the other thing I have been doing a lot more of is cooking. I cooked dinner the other night for my husband and tonight I threw down. I successfully made 3 dishes from Pinterest.
- Bourbon Chicken
- 7-Up Biscuits
- Apple Crisp
Everything was delicious! I plan to continue cooking this summer and getting into shape.

So, it wouldn't be summer if I didn't go to at least one professional development. Last week I went to a professional development on Word Study. We had a good time and I look forward to making some adjustments to Word Study in my classroom next year.
My other project this summer is planning for the weekly themes for Dance Camp at the
studio. (Which is the best dance studio in the world). This week coming up is Dr. Seuss week. The kids are so excited and I can't wait to see their outfits this week! Last week was All About Me and they made All About Me books.

So, I think that is it for now. Hopefully I will post again before school starts, but if not I've said a lot tonight.
Night!
